My Diamond Fantasy is finished

yarn weight: heavy lace/light fingering

Grin this is a pretty large scarf I think. That is the size I knitted as I did not want to take a chance on running out of the handspun yarn I was using for it.

Icarus in Progress

Hello All!
I am new to this KAL, and I'm so inspired already by the beautiful shawls I'm seeing. After I finished a Birch Shawl last summer, I went to work on an Icarus Shawl from the 2006 Interweave Knits. It's a lot easier so far, mainly stockinette with some carefully placed YOs. I admire all of you who knit such gorgeous, intricate lace shawls!

I'm at about 20% complete right now, and my rows are ever-increasing! I will not be defeated, though! I'm knitting with Misti Alpaca Laceweight, that just takes my breath away. It is so soft, and lovely to knit with! Often I stop knitting just to feel my work in progress!

I can't wait to be able to share my completed photos with you -- I'd better get knitting!

Lace Wings is done!

So I finally got my butt in gear and finished this. It's such a fast knit, I just kept putting it off to do other things. It's so easy and I think it came out pretty good! I used most of one skein of sock yarn from a friends etsy shop and needle sizes 3-6. Next time I'll start with a four or five to give it a lacier feeling.

I test knit this stole for Anne of Knitspot - so it's only half done, but it's so gorgeous I had to share. The shawl version of the pattern is already available and the stole will be available soon.

Triinu and MS 3

My last post has been read a lot and there is a question for me to answer:

Yes, the shawl pattern can be purchased. You can buy it from Triinu or from a swedish webshop Helylle from the beginning of august this pattern and some other ones designed by Triinu will be available.

At the moment I'm knitting on my MS3 shawl and I like it very much. I've finished clue 3 and tomorrow I'll start with the forth one. Have been working this week my vacation is over. Went to Copenhagen the last week of my vacation and made some very nice buys, thin merino and merino silk yarn for future laceknits.

They said the third time is the charm. Hey, it finally worked. I told you I was a novice with cameras not knitting. I will try in the sun next time. It is over half done and I'm sure that it will be finished before we leave. We have not quite 3 weeks to go. Ah, I can hardly wait. I have learned a lot from this stole already. Until next time.

Progress report

Hi all,

I finally have my digital camera and have taken a few pictures, one of which is of my lace project. It is half done. It is really coming along nicely and probably will finish it in time. We leave on the 9th of August for Idaho! It is going to be so nice to get away from noise and bussle of California and will be for 16 glorious days!

I hope this picture came out okay. Please me know if you have any tips of improving. Like I last said, I am a complete novice with this type of camera and uploading.

Progress Report--and a Giveaway!

It will be a long while before I have a finished shawl to post, so I thought I'd share how two of them are coming along. The first is the Arctic Diamonds Stole, from Interweave Knits, winter 2006. I'm using a laceweight merino in the Hush colorway from Fearless Fibers
for that. The second is a circular shawl of my own design. It's knit with Jaggerpun Zephyr in indigo.

Also, I have some lace yarn I don't need that I'm going to give away--stop by my blog if you're interested!

Diamond Fantasy

Is finally off the needles whew and not a moment too soon. At one point I was not sure I would finish in time for our County Fair. I got turned around and did almost a whole repeat knitting on the WRONG side of the shawl.

When I ripped that back I kept going down to a mistake that was bothering me. Total amount frogged was nearly 2/3s of the shawl. I almost started over but Sivia helped me find where I had stopped frogging. That let me just keep going instead of having to start over or even make another shawl/scarf pattern.

Here it is ready to block as soon as DH finishes my blocking frame. The orange stick is a yard stick. This is the small "scarf" version.

what to do with my handspun?

hi, my name's jen and i'm a knitter/spinner. i recently finished spinning up 4 oz. of roving into laceweight, about 875 yds. i have no idea what to use for it. well i have TONS of ideas of what to use it for, but am having a hard time just deciding. there's the shetland triangle, the swallowtail, a small leaf lace (which i've done already but a large dk version), my own pattern, etc. any suggestions/comments would be awesome. thanks!

Shetland Triangle Question

I'm only three rows from finishing the knitting on my Shetland Triangle.



When I read ahead to the finishing instructions, I was surprised to see that they asked for a "regular" bind off, and not something that would give a stretchier edge. This is only my fourth shawl, but all the others recommended a different method. I know many of you have knitted this shawl or others like it. Did you change the bind off, or were you satisfied with this one?

I was thinking of substituting the method Myrna Stahman calls the Icelandic Bind Off. Do you think that will work better?

The Cap Shawl

I am new here but have silently admired all the beautiful shawls people have made.

Yesterday I started my first major lace project. The Cap Shawl from the book Victorian Lace Today.

So far I have done 24 rows.... still a long way to go, but I enjot every minut of it. These round shawls are hard to show off -it just looks like a bubble!

Shawl/Stole

I have finally decided on a very lace shawl/stole from Traditional Knitted Lace Shawls. I have picked a pattern called "Children of Lir" extremely lacey, left and right decreases. It is really very pretty. I have got a couple of patterns completed so far. The yarn I am using is a fingerweight yarn from KnitPicks in a very soft yellow yarn and using size 8 needles. I am making this stole for my aunt who is in a nursing home in Washington. Hubby and I are planning to go visit her when we are up in Idaho for vacation next month. It will be nice to get away. I hope to work on it every minute I get. It will be a nice surprise for her. All for now.

Another Shetland Triangle

I love it. It’s knit on size 8 needles out of Silky Wool Yarn. I believe I did 11 or 12 repeats of the body chart in total.

Introduction

Hi all,

I am delighted to join this KAL. I have just finished my first lace scarf. The design I picked is called the Fishtail Lace Design that I found on the internet. Sorry but I have no pictures for you. I am saving up for a scanner and digital camera. I have been knitting for many years, but lace shawls and lace yarn has intrigued me for some time now. This scarf is made from 100% wool lace yarn and it really came out nice. I blocked it on my bed and that was a success too. Now I would like to upgrade to a shawl. Does anyone have a suggestion? I am making a stole with the fan feather design, but it is a very simple design. Does that count? I also have other knitting projects in the works. Am I strange to be having more than one project going at the same time?

I've been reading the blog and droling over all the lovely shawls exposed here. Decided to share some of my projects. At the moment I've just started with Mystery Stole 3, exciting!

I'm a lace-addict-knitter. This spring I attended a workshop with Triinu Andreassen and it was Estonian Lace for two days. Wonderful. This shawl is one thing that came out of it. Here is me (big) and a Eva (small) showing our shawls at Wwkip. In the list you find me as kristina but my blogname is Queen Mudd (mudd is Swedish for wristwarmer) another knittingmania of mine.

Vine Lace Summer Stole

I made this for a friend who lives in LA--a little something for her to throw over her shoulders on cool mornings while she writes her novel. The yarn is Cascade Pima/Silk and I used a US8 Inox circ. The blocked dimensions are 17 inches wide and 69 inches long.
