FO - Pacific Northwest Shawl

In all its glory... here it is!

With a human inside -

The rest of the pictures are on my blog ... guess I need to start another shawl. Maybe finish one that I've neglected for a few months. Who knows.

FO: the shetland experiment in size 10 cotton

My shetland-technique cotton shawl, one decade in the making, now hangs serenely at the top of the stairs.

More pix, and some bellyaching, here.

I present to you...

A pound of Jaggerspun Zephyr. 16 ounces of silk/wool beauty. Almost three miles of the most scrumptious laceweight ever set upon this planet.

Heaven to knit... impossible to put down. I started on the Pacific Northwest shawl Thursday afternoon and by Friday morning, I'd almost finished the first part - seagulls. (Not the best picture as I had to use one arm and one foot to keep the needle from curling up - next picture I'll find a towel & pins rather than the top of the freezer.)

And yes, I did sleep between Thursday and Friday. No knitting all night for this girl! I mean, at least not on lace. Some felted projects have been known to keep me up all night....

By now (Sunday afternoon), I've finished the pine trees and am about to begin the sand dollars. This section of the pattern is only a couple of rows... should be finished by evening. Then the waves! *giddy giggle*

I have also been gifted with some stunning silk - it's quite fine and I have no idea what I want to do with it. How many shawls does a gal need, anyway? I have three shawls (and one stole) within reach of where I sit right now. (Quite a long reach in one case.) I have two shawls on the other end of the house and one still on the needles, plus the Pacific Northwest shawl which shall be a gift. Madness, this is.

(Updated pictures of the silk & the shawl will be on my blog sometime tomorrow.)

FO: Fiber Trends Leaf Lace Shawl

It's finished! I love the colors, the drape, and the softness. This was a fast and fun project to work on.

Yarn: Cherry Tree Hill Super Sock Merino, colors = Old Rose & Quarry Hill. One 420yd hank of each, 840yds total.
Needles: Denise #7
Pattern: Leaf Lace Shawl, Fiber Trends
Finished dimensions: 65 x 34 inches
Yarn & Pattern purchased from Full Thread Ahead

A better view of the colorscape.

Color patterning --
  • Section A: This shawls starts with Old Rose, and the 10 row lace pattern is repeated 7 times.
  • Section A+B: Quarry Hill is introduced at the start of the next lace pattern repeat. Both colors are used for the next 3 repeats, alternating colors every other row.
  • Section B: Quarry Hill is worked for the next 3 repeats + the edge lace pattern.
Total number of 10 row lace pattern repeats = 13.

Less than 2 feet of Quarry Hill was left, but I have 11gms of Old Rose remaining. If I knit this again (and I probably will), I'll work the A+B section for a few more rows before proceeding with the B section.

Easy Lace Pie Wedge Shawl

I finished the Easy Lace Shawl (pattern free with skein of lace weight Helen's Lace in colorway Tahoe). You can see a picture on my blog. I recently cast on for Ene's Scarf from Scarf Style although I don't have enough yarn to finish the project. I'm going today to see if I can beg and scrounge for enough yarn!

Introduction

Hi! My name is Stephanie and I blog over at ontheneedles.blogspot.com/ I am knitting my first lace project which is the Box Lace Shawl from Folk Shawls. The shawl is doing double duty as my project for this KAL & the Knit the Classics KAL. It will be the first of many lace shawls as I am hooked on lace already! I posted a picture of my progress so far over on my blog. I am using Jameison's 2 ply Shetland in Royal Blue. I love the color - super vivid. I think this is a great lace project for beginners. It is easy to see how the stitches form the pattern & gives you a good understanding of what you are doing when you are making lace. I look forward to seeing everyone else's projects as well. :)
