New Shawl

I wanted to share some pics of my new shawl. It's not been named yet. I had a competition on my blog last week but I can't decide between the entries. The yarn is my own YarnAddict Supreme Lace which is a merino/silk blend. I added beads to the border. The shawl is knitted in one piece from the centre back.

The pattern will be available from my website and from Ravelry later this week.

Domus Aurea

Domus Aurea, pronounced Dough-muss Ow-ree-ahh, is a shawl I designed with Silk Lace from Claudia Hand Painted Yarns, in Honey. It's fairly simple to knit, with a long stretch in the center that is as near to mindless knitting as lace ever gets. The pattern is written in 2 sizes: scarf and shawl. The pattern is knit from cast on edge straight through to the other side. There is no grafting, no added border.



The pattern is available in my pattern shop, and on Ravelry.



The diamond pattern is created by knitting nupps. They're fairly easy to do. Honest. If you prefer, beads look nice there, too. Instructions for adding beads not included.

Dazzle

This is the Dazzle Shawl, designed by me and the yarn was dyed by me but knitted by my good friend, Pixie, as I didn't have time to do it and I needed a new shawl design for my Lace Variety Club. It's knitted in my Silky Merino, which is a silk/merino blend laceweight yarn with 1200 m per skein.It turned out to be a huge shawl, much bigger than I expected and it's gorgeous. I'm really pleased with it. I must get around to knitting one myself soon. If you're interested in the pattern , it can be purchased from my Etsy shop or Ravelry.

Kiri in Silk

I made this for a girlfriend's 50th birthday:

I made it with Claudia Handpaints Lace Silk, less than a skein and size 3 Addi turbo Lace circs.
The pattern was so easy to memorize that I could do it anywhere, even in the car, which is a nice thing because usually my lace projects have to be done at home. The silk was enjoyable, but I had to get used to it because I knit mostly with wool.

Heartland Lace Shawl

I finished Heartland in July of 2008, but never got around to posting it because I was huge with child. I gave her the proper photo shoot and written description on my blog.

New Midnight Shawl

I wanted to share pictures of my latest lace shawl. It was knitted in just 2 weeks by myself and my test knitter, Pixie, did hers in teh same time frame too. I actually did most of the knitting in the 2nd week as I was in London for part of the first week.

My version is knitted in YarnAddict Exotic Lace (alpaca/cashmere/silk) and has beads added. The beads are added using a tiny crochet hook.

Pixie's version is knitted in YarnAddict Silky Merino Lace and doesn't have beads. Pixie's tension is much firmer than mine and she knitted a shorter version.
I still need to get some better pictures of this shawl but weather conditions have been conspiring against me. Today looks hopeful though. It's not raining (yet) but a little dull.

In the Woods

In the Woods, model knit with Posh Yarn Cecilia, a cobweb weight yarn. The stole would look lovely in a regular lace weight, too. It’s a rectangular stole knit in one piece. The pattern is available in my pattern shop, and on Ravelry.

Jennies Radiant Scarf

I designed this scarf as a birthday present for my friend Jennie. I used 330m of kidmohair on 4mm needles and it ended up around 30 cm by 150 cm.

The pattern is avaible at LUL design.

Friendship shawl

I designed and knit two copies of this shawl, one in red, the other in purple, in a month. A month! I was one busy knitter. Of course, I did rather obsess on it. The pattern is available on my web site.

 

My Swallowtail Shawl

Finally I finished a lace project and can post to this group. I knit the Swallowtail Shawl in fingerweight yarn which was hand dyed. Instead of the nupps, I used size 6 light pink silver lined seed beads. Then, I decided to add a bit more bling and put a bead at the end of the points. The result is not over glaring and very pretty.

Last week, I spent 5 days at a local fair demonstrating spinning with the RI Spinners Guild. This shawl was on display along with other shawls, scarves, socks, yarns we spun, and other items.

The pattern is not difficult once you memorize one repeat of the buds, and, then the lily of the valley part. The edging wasn't too difficult either. Here are some pics.

Framed Feathers scarf

Technically not a shawl, but it is lace and if you add pattern repeats and length, it would be a nice stole. :)

The pattern for this is available on my blog. It's knit with one ball (25 grams/328 yards) of Filatura Di Crosa Superior, a cashmere/silk blend cobweb yarn and measures 9" x 50".

A Muir in Black

Finished up my Muir today. What a lovely pattern! I am very pleased with how it came out. The yarn, a merino/silk laceweight from Yarn Ahoy, an Etsy vendor, has beautiful drape.

Euro soccer games knitting

Here is my new shawl, knitted during the European soccer games. Yarn 3 balls Kid silk Haze, 1 cone 50 grams thin wool from Karen Noe and one cone 50 grams thin silk from the same place. Pattern my own.

A New Pi Shawl

I finished this one a while ago but waited to blog about it until it was published. It's my Firmaments Shawl and the pattern is available from WEBS. It's knit with their Valley Yarns Alpaca/Silk 2/14. More details and photos on my blog.

Canterbury Bells

I finished this lace scarf a little over a week ago. My test knitter, Kathryn, finished up late last week with the stole version of the same pattern.
