My Baby Shawl

Here is my baby shawl. The pattern is Sweet Dreams Baby Blanket. It was in the spring 1997 issue of Interweave Knits. The magazine is sold out and out of print but I know that Interweave will sell the pattern separately. The measurements are 54.5" by 46". I used a yarn by Schoeller called Hobby and it took almost 11 balls and was knit with 4mm needles. Now I'm knitting another one for my other son that is expecting his first baby in May using a fingering weight yarn and 3.75mm needles.

I cast on Jan. 10th and cast off Jan. 27th. I was rushed because my DIL was having a little difficuly and I knew she wouldn't go to her due date of Feb. 15th. I have knit this pattern before so I only need to follow the charts I did for the star and castle so it went a little faster.

It's wonderful! I reconize the castle; I knitted a pattern called Emma's Blanket that used both the castle and a cottage. I believe they are Barbara Walker designs from her 1st or 2nd Treasury books.

Phaedra,

Do you have a picture of the blanket or a place where I could find the pattern? I have all the Walker Treasuries and I believe both the star and the castle are in the blue book. The floral border is also from Barbara Walker.

Yosemite,

I have a printed copy of the pattern and picture from a webpage, which is nolonger active. I would love to get it to you. And I have no idea where my blanket pictures are. I think it is the Gingerbread Castle and the Enchanted Cottage.

Yosemite,
Copy and paste this picture: http://yscmama.typepad.com/photos/done/secretprject.html

It shows the knitted castle and cottage. The blanket I did had a moss stitch border and 3 rows of 3 blocks each: 2 rows (top & bottom)alternating the cottage with a "checkered-like" block, and the middle row had 2 checkered blocks with the castle in the center. I did in a baby blue acryllic. It became a "Linus" blanket. :)

Phaedra,

Thank you so much for the link. I have the book. I'm going to have to work on putting them in a blanket similar to the Sweet Dreams. I just have to find the time.
